Let´s go barefoot!

Do you also feel relieved when you can take off your shoes after a day at the office and do you also enjoy the feeling of freedom that you get when you walk barefoot in a park or on the beach on a nice summer day? That is because walking barefoot is a natural feeling and it also happens to be healthy!!

We should enjoy life with ALL our senses! The world is too much focused on what we hear and what we see, but enjoying life also means smelling and feeling it. And not only with the mouth and the hands, the feet have a huge number of reflex points which are connected to every part of our bodies, therefor for intense feeling we should go barefeet!

So why not kick off those shoes a little more often and not only inside the house, but also in your garden, the park, at the beach, during a walk in the woods! You will experience that intense feeling…

  • Walking barefoot helps you to stretch and strengthen the muscles, tendons and ligaments in your feet, ankles and calves. This helps to prevent injury, back problems and knee strains.
  • Not a proven fact, but many people believe that walking barefoot in the grass is a good medicine against insomnia.
  • Walking regularly in different type of soils without shoes encourages the cardiovascular system and regulates blood circulation.
  • To be barefoot outside doesn’t just involve your feet. The unique experience of nature relaxes and stimulates the soul and psyche. Feel the sunshine on your face; hear the wind in the trees! it’s easier to put things into perspective when you’re in touch with Nature.
  • In your feet we find reflex points which connect to every part of our body. Every little bump and rock in the road helps to stimulate all these little reflex points. If it hurts at first, this means your feet need the stimulation they’re getting by being barefoot. After doing it more often these sensitivities will disappear…

We came across a great place in Madeira, Jardim Atlántico Ecologic Hotel. A wellness hotel where they have made an 800 meter long path constructed with 17 different kind of elements like pine, stones, water, wood, sand, peat, bay leaf, pebble stones, grass, etc.. To stimulate the feet and where guests can experience the great feeling of walking barefoot. It’s really nice to feel the different soils barefoot. Walking barefoot can be fun!

Who knew something as simple as a barefoot walk could be so much fun and good for your mind, body and soul at the same time!
